What a wonderful September it has been! Getting back into the swing of things has been a blast for our students at Kelso C-7 School! K-5th grades have been focusing on how to become even greater students than they are! They have been focusing on listening, study skills, and being organized by having clean desks and backpacks...and yes, the "desk fairy" has been visiting them! They have received "tickets" for having organized desks and will receive treats for their tickets. We have been following the "I Didn't Know I Could Be The Student Left Behind" (by MARCO...my favorite) curriculum for the month of September. Check out that link for further information!
Grades 6-8th have been working on Team Building skills! I have to say that these are one of my favorite activities to do with my students. They get to move around, create, problem solve, work together, brainstorm...etc. and the list goes on! I purchased a great book from one of my favorite authors of team building, Alanna Jones. Several years ago, she published a book called the "wRECking Yard of Activities", I got to attend one of her conferences! I got to meet her first hand and thoroughly enjoyed the activities that we did at that conference and of course purchased the book! Well, I needed some new stuff from her so I purchased one of her other books, "104 Activities That Build". This week, the 6-8th graders did her activity entitled, "Garbage Art" and "Bubble Brigade". For Garbage Art, the classes had to get together and create a sculpture or art piece together out of given garbage items and of course work together to create such a project...which is not always easy! Here are some pictures of what they created!

As you can see, they of course were super creative and since they are such great students, they of course got along so well and quickly created their projects! We had a "professor", a "castle", and a "food box"!
